Hail stones on Hengistbury Head

Hengistbury Head is a headland near Christchurch, Dorset. It was a regular destination for a Sunday walk when I was a younger and we lived in the area.  Since moving away it still remains somewhere to visit once or twice a year when the sea calls. It's possible to walk across the head to Mudeford Spit and catch a ferry boat back to Christchurch, making a fabulous day out.

On one of my last visits, it was a grey day with a strong wind coming in off the sea. The clouds darkened and the hail started... good size chunks of ice and no cover.  It only lasted a few minutes and left the normally green grass looking white under a layer of ice.
