Netley Abbey Village Heritage Trail

Has a physical 'on the ground' location

Purchase a copy of the Netley Abbey Village Heritage Trail booklet from the Royal Victoria Chapel and explore the village's history on a self-guided walk at your own pace.

Netley Abbey village lies in the parish of Hound, to the south-east of Southampton. It developed following the construction of the Royal Victoria military hospital, which opened in 1863. This trail, produced in association with the Hound Local History Society, explores the heritage of the village and its historic links to the hospital. The walk starts at the Royal Victoria Chapel, passes out through the main gate towards the village, following in the footsteps of so many hospital workers, patients and visitors throughout its 150-year history.
